Organiser/Industrial Officer –
NSW Print Division -12 month position

The NSW Branch currently has a 12 month vacancy for an organiser/industrial officer to work in the Print Division. The position is based in our Granville State Office and will be directed to organising amongst the AMWU’s printing, paper, packaging and graphic arts membership.
The AMWU represents workers in the metal and engineering trades, manufacturing; construction; paper and printing; food, confectionery and vehicle industries; laboratories, technical, supervisory and the public sector.
The vacancy is for an organiser/industrial officer to work for twelve months in the paper and printing industries. Applicants should have a passionate commitment to building the Union’s capacity to campaign for fair wages and conditions for all manufacturing workers through:
Organising in union and non-union workplaces
Building the union’s workplace organisation
Developing activist and delegate networks.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong communication & negotiation skills and an understanding of the industrial and political issues facing manufacturing workers, particularly those in the paper and print industries. It would be an advantage for applicants to have previous organising and industry experience. The successful applicant will report to the NSW State Secretary and work with the NSW Print Team on a day to day basis.
