APHEDA Fundraising Raffle 2011

Union Aid Abroad APHEDA, the overseas humanitarian aid agency of the ACTU, is now selling tickets for their annual raffle. This year they have some great prizes including an $8 000 travel voucher and Apple iPads!

AMWU members’ support can help APHEDA provide overseas aid to countries like Timor-Leste, Haiti, Cambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, Cuba and the Thai-Burma border amongst others.

The last 12 months have seen unprecedented natural disasters in Australia and overseas. While many Australians are still recovering, the impact in developing countries has been far greater. The Pakistan flood killed more than 2 000 people and impoverished a further 20 million. Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile killed over 200 000 people and affected millions more.

Through the generosity of Australian union members, APHEDA were able to support recovery efforts in these countries, as well as continuing the fight against global poverty and injustice - as they have done for the past 26 years.

APHEDA need your help to continue with this valuable work and this is why their annual raffle is so important.
