Delegates talk about jobs, skills and opportunities for members

Victorian delegates met this week.

Over 1000 AMWU delegates have met in each state over the past two weeks to discuss the agenda of the AMWU for 2011.

The national forums for workplace delegates wrapped up on Thursday with around 200 delegates meeting at Victorian Trades Hall.

AMWU National Secretary, Dave Oliver, said that the forums covered several key issues including climate change, trade, local content, skills.

“The focus of our union has been to address each issue from the point of jobs and opportunities for our members. Good jobs for us today, and good jobs for our kids tomorrow.”

The union also launched several initiatives at the forums, including the Manufacturing: Australia’s Future campaign and the Skills Register website. www.skillsregister.com.au

A copy of Dave Oliver’s address is available here, as well as the factsheet handed out at the forum.
