AMWU National Secretary Dave Oliver has welcomed the not guilty verdict in the case taken against building worker Ark Tribe by the Australian Building and Construction Commission.
Mr Oliver said that the case had been a massive waste of taxpayer money, and was one more reason for the discriminatory laws to be abolished.
"Denying a worker the right to silence is against all principles of human rights. The prosecution should never have been brought and the outcome of this case is a condemnation of the ABCC and the extraordinary powers it has been given."
"The ABCC should be abolished", he said.
