Together, union members have achieved significant improvements for working people, from annual holidays, to safer workplaces and equal pay for women - and the AMWU has played a key role in all of these campaigns.

The AMWU is a tough, smart and strategic union. We are focussed, organised and well-resourced and we campaign hard for our members.

We provide the best education and training for workplace delegates in Australia, and expert legal advice and representation for members across a range of issues including workers compensation, unfair dismissal, underpayment of wages and many others.

We organise members to ensure that they know what they're entitled to, and they get what they're entitled to.

It is a fact that union workplaces enjoy higher wages, greater occupational health and safety and better conditions than non-union workplaces. ABS figures released in 2009 show that union members earn an average of $96 per week more than non-union workers.
